Total Contact – the ultimate treeless saddle with matching purpose-made faux suede saddle pad – Special Offer!
The Total Contact Saddle (TCS) is made from top quality leather by an English Master Saddler with English stainless steel stirrup attachments and English metalwork D-rings.
It comes in two types:
- the Classic (with short billets or girth straps, uses a conventional girth) – the measurement across the back of the saddle from the second hole on one girth strap to the second hole on the other is 37″. The girth straps end about 5″ below the under flap
- the Long Strap (with long billets & needs a dressage girth) – the measurement across the back of the saddle from the second hole on one girth strap to the second hole on the other is 52″
The matching specially-designed saddle pad is made of hard-wearing faux suede with faux sheepskin underside and is machine-washable; it measures 25″ front to back and is designed to fit the TCS on each side.
Will the TCS Fit my Horse?
The Total Contact Saddle is suitable for a very wide range of horses (breeds, types, conformation) as well as riders of all levels of styles, shapes and sizes. “One saddle really does fit all”. Here at Bitless Equestrian we have used our Total Contact on all sizes & shapes and the children really love to use it on the ponies too – very versatile!
The Total Contact comes in Classic (short billets, like a traditional saddle) or the Long Strap version – which is more like a dressage saddle.
NB: the pads shown in the photographs are not included in the price; nor are girth, stirrups or leathers
Does the Total Contact cause pressure across the withers or back of the horse?
The simple answer is that no it doesn’t. The saddle has been seen by a wide range of ‘back practitioners’ and specialists including osteopaths, equine physio, McTimoney practitioners, Bowen and others. Some are now clients and some recommend the saddle to their clients with confidence. In addition there is now some 13 years of client history and comment that suggests pressure is not an issue across a wide range of horse and activities and rider styles. This is much more of a valid indicator than some of the ‘quasi-science’ studies that use a small participant group of subjects and results that may not be as reliable as might be. In many studies qualitative data is recognised as being valid and this includes comment, interviews, questionnaires etc.
We order each saddle direct from the manufacturer as soon as you place your order with us; hence they show as 0 stock, but available on back order. If you are local to the Bitless Equestrian Centre, you are welcome to come & see ours and try it.
