First day of Spring – according to the animals!
This morning, for the first time this winter, none of the 4 ‘goldies’ (golden oldies – horses who come in for extra bucket feeds of soaked Emerald Green grass pellets in the mornings all through winter) was waiting for their feed!! They weren’t far away and had obviously been keeping an eye out for me, so they were soon there demanding their buckets 🙂
And then… lo and behold – the first egg of the year from one of my hens. It must be Spring! Even though meteorologically it’s another few days before the official end of winter / beginning of spring… but the animals know 🙂
All the rugged horses were happy to lose their rugs today, so they could fully enjoy the sunshine and happy to keep them off, knowing there is no chance of rain tonight!
