Description
Highland Lavender (lavandula angustifolia)
With the passage of time, high altitude lavender growing wild in Provence has become relatively rare. Wild plants always have a unique quality, and the lavender that grows at high altitude is always the ‘supreme’ Lavender. An unique and wonderful oil.
This is a certified organic pure therapeutic-quality aromatherapy essential oil from France, and is distilled from the blossom / plant.
Many animals find lavender calming and I have found it helpful to calm an animal with choke, colic or similar, while waiting for the vet.
Lavandula comes from the Latin word lavare, meaning to wash, which is particularly appropriate because lavender is so deeply cleansing in so many ways. It is a wonderful antiseptic and since it can be used neat on the skin of humans, it is very useful for applying directly to burns, cuts and sores –great for children, and an essential addition to first aid kits. It also helps relieve pain and itching, as well as speeding the healing process. It is an etheric antiseptic, so doesn’t just cleanse the body on a physical level, but on an energetic level too.
It was Rene-Maurice Gattefosse who observed the healing effects of lavender oil when he burnt his hand in a laboratory accident, and it is still used today for burns including in hospitals, for its pain relieving, antiseptic & skin healing properties.
In the animal kingdom lavender has been found to be helpful for chronic proud flesh – both inhaled & applied topically; for skin conditions and as an insect repellent.
This lavender, grown at high altitude, is the most energetically refined of all lavenders available and is the one most often selected by animals in our experience.
We also have high quality Lavender Aromatic Water (also from France), which can be used in a small spray bottle to facilitate application.
