Description
Ground-parallel Hay Nets or Ground-feeding Hay nets – small hole / trickle feeding mimics grazing
We first bought nets from this company when we were originally setting up our track system in 2007 – and would you believe we still have some of those original nets – they’ve been outside 24/7 in all weathers – I cannot believe how ridiculously hard-wearing & useful these nets are.
Extremely versatile, they can be slung between two trees or posts on a track; they can be attached to a five-bar gate (the XXL one is ideal for this) and used in stables, field shelters and run-in barns too.
With a choice of mesh size 30mm, 45 mm or 60 mm, depending on what size equine you’re feeding and how much you need to slow down their eating for gut health and / or weight management.
There is a lot of research to prove how harmful it is to have haynets hung up high for horses, I’m sure you are aware (or you probably wouldn’t be looking at these!)
Research also now shows that slowing down a horse’s consumption of hay or haylage from a net mimics natural grazing and is very beneficial to the horse’s digestion as well as helpful for weight management and reducing possibility of laminitis.
Knotless Hay Net Sizes
S holds about 8kg hay and is 1m deep x 0.9 m long (30 / 45 / 60 mm)
L will hold about 3/4 small bale of hay (10 – 12 kg) and is 1m deep x 1.5 m long (30 / 45 / 60 mm)
XXL is twice as big, still 1 m deep, but 3 m long & holds up to 30 kg hay (30 / 45 / 60 mm)
Each rectangular net is supplied with a piece of sturdy wood (patented system to hold the net open for filling and to close the net) and 5 pieces of cord – one to attach the wood to the net using the drilled hole and the other 4 to secure each corner of the net as required.
Safety notice
All horse shoes damage the horse. Therefore the hay nets have only been developed and tested for bare hoof horses. We discourage the use of these nets by horses with unnatural hooves, ie shod horses. We also discourage their use by horses whose hooves have a diameter smaller than the mesh size.
